Film Forecast Friday: April 20th

On Friday, April 20th, we have…

  1. I Feel Pretty
  2. Traffik
  3. Super Troopers 2
  4. Duck Duck Goose
  5. Dolphins
  6. The House of Tomorrow

Julia’s Prediction:

I Feel Pretty will definitely be the biggest film this week (despite the fact that Amy Schumer is so widely disliked). Not only is it an Amy Schumer movie, but it has a lot of other notable female comedians in it as well. I think a lot of people will head to theaters to see it this weekend, especially considering there aren’t really any other big releases this week.

Traffik and Storm Troopers 2 I think will do okay. Thrillers like Traffik and sequels like Storm Troopers 2 tend to do decent at the box office, but definitely nowhere near the biggest numbers of the week.

I am actually really excited to see The House of Tomorrow. It has Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation), Alex Wolff (aka my favorite Wolff brother), and Asa Butterfield in it and seems to have a really interesting story. I think it will do well among indie moviegoers, but won’t make big waves overall.

Finally, Duck Duck Goose and Dolphins. Honestly, I don’t expect either of these movies to make a huge impression at the box office this weekend.

Anthony’s Prediction:

I Feel Pretty, starring Amy Schumer (Trainwreck – if you even remember that movie), will be the largest box office hit of the weekend before the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War comes out next week. Basically, this movie has one solid week in it before it crashes.

With the aftermath of Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero, it makes me kind of excited for the inevitable failure Duck Duck Goose. It’ll probably be bad enough to wipe me out of my animation phase.

Traffik is being heavily regarded by dozens as one of the worst movies of the year, but I won’t judge it until I see it for myself. I agree with Julia that Traffik will do about as well as Super Troopers 2.
As for Dolphins, it’ll be just as easily forgotten as every other animal documentary is. The House of Tomorrow will be interesting as it has some very interesting actors in it (Nick Offerman and Alex Wolff) so I have confidence it’ll be a decent movie.
